Countdown to Polyfest...

By Elliot Moka

The Tongan cultural group has been putting in long hours over the last couple of weeks to prepare for Polyfest. The group have been working on two items, both of which are original compositions for this year, aligned to the theme which is ‘return to our natural resources for body and spiritual well-being’.

A performance group from 2014.

The group is supported by an army of friends and family who have helped at practices, making costumes and preparing food and drink for our fundraiser event and to keep the group hydrated during the long weekend practices. Saturday practices are a real family affair with parents helping out with the singing in the early stages.

Thanks to the high standards demanded by the tutors, the students have raised the bar in practices and the ma’ulu’ulu is now looking very polished. Nerves are running high as the pressure builds up before the big event, but the MAGS Tongan cultural group will represent themselves, their families and culture well on the day. We are hoping to cap the experience with a golden performance to go with the big smiles of the students.
